Every order BookRouter™ downloads from a marketplace lands on one page, with the buyer, the address, the items and the shipping method the venue reported. You can work an order to completion there: correct the address, print a packing slip, record tracking, and mark it shipped. On the marketplaces that support it, marking it shipped here also tells the venue.
How to find it
Open Sales & Customers in the left menu and click Marketplace Orders.
This page is separate from Orders, which holds your own website orders. The two lists have different lifecycles and different rules, so they are kept apart.
Unlocking the page
Marketplace Orders is part of Multi-Channel Sales. If the list looks blurred behind a prompt, the feature has not been switched on yet: click Enable Multi-Channel Sales (an administrator account is needed) and your marketplace order history begins importing in the background. It usually appears within a few minutes.
The same switch is what lets marketplace sales appear in your Sales reports alongside website sales.
What arrives automatically
BookRouter checks your connected marketplaces for new orders throughout the day. When one is found it is stored here, the item is marked sold in your inventory, and it is removed from the other venues you list on. Which venues can send orders at all is covered in What each marketplace can sync.
Working the list
Tabs across the top split the list by where each order stands:
- New is everything that has not been dealt with yet. Orders import here.
- Shipped covers shipped, ready to ship, and settled.
- Cancelled is exactly that.
Each row shows the marketplace, the order date, the buyer, the item count, the total and a status badge. Search by order number or buyer, or use the filter panel for a specific status or date range. Click the order number to open it.
The order page
The left card is what the marketplace told us: their order number, the date, the total, the shipping method and amount the buyer paid for, and the line items with SKU and price. Where a venue reports back that it was shipped at their end, a Shipped (per marketplace) line and any tracking they hold appear here too.
The right card is yours to correct:
- Order status: New / Unprocessed, Ordered, Ready to ship, Shipped, Settled, Cancelled.
- Buyer name, email and full shipping address.
Editing is deliberate. Several venues send one notification when the order is placed and never send a correction, so if a buyer emails you a fixed apartment number, this is where it goes. What you change here is used for your packing slip and any shipping label you buy; it does not change the order at the venue.
Print packing slip sits at the top right, and on AbeBooks and Biblio orders so does Issue Return/Refund. At the bottom of the page, a marketplace updates card lists everything BookRouter has sent to the venue about this order.
See Printing packing slips and Issuing a return or refund.
Closing orders out
Changing the status to Shipped or Cancelled can also update the marketplace, so you do not have to log in there to close the order. That is opt-in and worth reading before you use it: Marking a marketplace order shipped or cancelled.
Clearing an old backlog
Orders that were already fulfilled before your marketplaces were connected import as New, because the venues do not tell us what happened to them afterwards. To clear them in one go, open the … menu on the list and choose Mark all New as Shipped. You can do it for one marketplace or all of them, and you are shown the count before anything changes.
This bulk action only tidies your own records. It never notifies the marketplaces, which is what you want for a historical backlog. Orders you are actually shipping now should be marked shipped individually so the venue is updated.
