You register your own domain name through a domain registrar, and it stays in your name. Bibliopolis does not register domains on your clients' behalf, and that is a good thing: keeping the domain in your own registrar account means you always retain ownership and full control of it.
Choosing a registrar
Any reputable registrar will work. Common ones include:
- Network Solutions
- GoDaddy
- Squarespace Domains
- Namecheap
- Cloudflare
Register the domain in an account that belongs to you. When it comes time to build or launch your site, you can grant Bibliopolis access to manage the technical settings without ever handing over your password. See Sharing registrar access with Bibliopolis.
Once your domain is registered
To connect it to your Bibliopolis website you'll point it at our servers. For most clients we manage this for you. See Understanding DNS and how Bibliopolis manages it. If you'd rather keep DNS at your registrar and enter the records yourself, follow the Website DNS setup guide.
