Bibliopolis doesn't sell or register domain names — you must register and maintain ownership of your domain through a separate registrar. Once it's registered, you can delegate access to Bibliopolis so we can manage the technical settings without ever sharing your password.
Choosing a registrar
Any registrar works. Options we see most often from clients:
- Network Solutions
- GoDaddy
- Squarespace Domains
- Cloudflare
Register the domain under an account that belongs to you, not Bibliopolis. When you're ready to launch, grant us delegated access instead of handing over your password — see Sharing Registrar Access with Bibliopolis.
Good habits when you register
- Turn on WHOIS / privacy protection. It keeps your name, address, and phone number out of the public domain-ownership lookup.
- Enable auto-renew. A domain that lapses can be bought by someone else — don't let an expired card quietly take your site down.
- Skip the upsells at checkout. Hosting, website builders, and "SEO" add-ons pushed by the registrar aren't needed — your site and hosting are handled by Bibliopolis.
Once your domain is registered
To connect it to your Bibliopolis website, you'll either point it at our nameservers or manage the DNS records yourself. Most clients have us mange their DNS for them — see Understanding DNS and How Bibliopolis Manages It. If you prefer to keep DNS at your registrar and enter records yourself, please coordinate with us in advance. You can review the Website DNS Setup Guide at any time to prepare.
