Settings › Selling Options › Taxes brings US sales tax and VAT together on one page and adds the rest of the world. Set a rate by country, by state or province, and by kind of item, so printed books can be taxed differently from everything else. Ready-made sets for Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia and New Zealand put the standard rates in for you, and Canada’s GST and PST add up while HST replaces them, as the law has it.

Bibliopolis keeps those standard rates up to date, and you can set your own rate instead wherever you need to. Say whether your prices already include the tax, and the cart words it that way. Your point of sale and your invoices follow the same rules: a sale at the counter is taxed at your shop’s address, an invoice at the address it ships to. Nothing changes until you first save the page.
