"Speech of Hon. Theodore G. Bilbo of Mississippi in the Senate of the United States April 24, 1939 in the Congressional Record."

***

np (Washington, DC), nd (1939) 11.5 x 9, self wraps, 24 pp, horizontal fold, minor wear else vg. Bilbo, a controversial Mississippi Democrat, advocated "Voluntary Resettlement of American Negroes in Africa," and includes, after his long-winded diatribe, a copy of Senate Bill 2232 which outlines his plan for the "resettlement" of the blacks in "The United States Territory of Greater Liberia," lands adjoining Liberia and purchased from England and France. Bilbo was an outspoken segregationalist, and the US Senate refused to seat him for his third term in office because of his views. Incredibly detailed plan.
