Emily Inez Denny was the first white girl born in Seattle, on December 23rd, 1853, and the eldest child of David T. and Louisa Denny. Her parents arrived in the Seattle area in November 1851. They were married on January 23rd, 1853 and were the first Seattleites to be wed locally. Emily vividly describes her pioneer childhood when they lived close to nature and their playfields were the beach and the fir covered hillsides.
