New York: The Mystery League, Inc., Publishers, 1931. Octavo. 284, [2]pp. Original illustrated dust-jacket over cloth, with green lettering on front board and spine. Printer's device on title-page. Francis Beeding was the pseudonym of two writers -John Leslie Palmer (1885-1944) and Hilary Aidan St. George Saunders (1898-1951). Between 1925 and 1946 they produced some 30 novels, of which ''Death Walks in Eastrepps,'' published in 1931, is the best known. This is a classic British mystery, which includes a double identity, a series of murders, blackmail, a courtroom drama and, at the end, a Least Likely Suspect. An overly complicated book, as many at that time were, it is still a beautifully written tour de force. Some age wear on dust-jacket with upper and lower parts of front joint partly chipped. Creasing, closed tears and sporadic chipping along edges. Dust-jacket in overall fair, binding and interior in very good to near fine condition. First edition. vg.
